If your report opens in a browser in spreadsheet format when you click Excel , it is because your computer was set up that way. You can change the settings so it opens in the Excel program.
To change your computer settings to open a spreadsheet in Excel:
Open Microsoft Explorer using one of the following options:
On the Task bar, click the Start button, then right-click My Computer, and select Explore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer, and select Explore.
Press Windows + E.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Select the File Types tab.
Scroll through the Registered file types and click XLS.
In the Details for 'XLS' extension section, click Advanced.
Clear the Browse in same window check box.
Click OK, then Close.
